International projects by partners in South Korea and Switzerland

The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and Innosuisse work together to support international innovation projects implemented by partners from South Korea and Switzerland. Research institutions and companies have the opportunity to submit funding applications in regular calls for proposals. This partnership boosts knowledge and technology transfer and makes both countries more competitive.  

Joint Call 2019

KIAT and Innosuisse are conducting a joint call for the fifth time. The call is open to innovations in all topics. The cooperation projects are focused in particular on applications from the following disciplines:

  • biotech and medtech
  • renewable energies and mobility
  • digitalisation, Industry 4.0, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • additive manufacturing
  • smart materials and innovative surfaces
  • augmented and virtual reality

The call is aimed at consortia of research institutions and companies from Switzerland and South Korea who want to jointly implement a science-based innovation project.

The following dates are binding. The call will be conducted in two stages:

Phase 1: project pre-proposal
Launch of call: 1 April 2019
Deadline for application submissions: 15 May 2019

At a meeting on 8 July 2013, the two funding organisations decided to boost international cooperation on innovation projects. On 20 November 2014, representatives of KIAT, the SERI and the then CTI signed a declaration of intent in Basel. The declaration explains their intention to issue joint calls for proposals for science-based innovation projects implemented by partners from Switzerland and South Korea and to pool the funding opportunities of all institutions.
