As a researcher, you have to convince potential business partners of the value of your research.

Innosuisse will support you here: you can apply for financial support for feasibility studies, prototypes and testing facilities – especially for high-risk projects with strong innovation potential.


Requirements for submitting an application

To submit an application for an innovation project without an implementation partner, you must meet certain requirements.


As researcher

You must work at a Swiss research institution. Your research institution (the so-called research partner of the project) must belong to one of the following categories:

Note: For innovation projects without an implementation partner, a project may last a maximum of 18 months. In addition, researchers involved in such projects must respect the code of scientific integrity. Projects or activities that are contrary to scientific integrity or good scientific practice are not encouraged.

Innosuisse supports projects from all fields of innovation and interdisciplinary projects.


What your application should include

Fill out the application online through the application platform.

You will have to provide the following information:

  • Information on project partners: Expertise and track record of the partners, available infrastructure
  • General information: Title, background, initial results
  • Added value of your innovation project: Business model, competitive situation, USP, market analysis, potential for profitability
  • Your innovative solution: Development status, innovative content, risk and ambition (e.g. level of technological maturity), feasibility of the results
  • Project plan including schedule: work packages, quantitative objectives (technological, scientific, economic), risk analysis
  • Financial plan: wage costs, material costs.

Submit your application

Do you meet the requirements? Then enter your application on the Innosuisse online application platform.

After the application has been submitted, Innosuisse will start the evaluation process.

Other funding opportunities

> Would you like to carry out an innovation project with an implementation partner?
Innosuisse financially supports science-based innovation projects conducted by industrial partners and private and public institutions jointly with a research partner.

> Do you, as an SME, need support in launching your innovation project or in finding a partner?
Small and medium-sized organisations (up to 250 full-time equivalents) can apply for support from an innovation mentor at Innosuisse.

> As an SME or smaller organisation, do you have an innovation idea, but are not sure whether it is feasible?
The Innosuisse innovation cheque enables small and medium-sized organisations (up to 250 full-time equivalents) to test the feasibility of their innovation ideas with a research partner.

> Do you want to know if your idea could be patented?
Are you in the process of submitting an application for an innovation project to Innosuisse? Then you can benefit free of charge from an assisted patent search by the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI).
