Two new members join the Innosuisse Innovation Council

Innosuisse’s Innovation Council has appointed two new members. On 1 October 2022, Nicolas Demartines and Elena Cortona will replace Anja Wyden Guelpa and Massimo Luccina, who will be completing their four-year mandate. Innosuisse would like to thank them for their excellent contribution to the promotion of innovation in Switzerland.

The Innovation Council consists of twenty-five members elected by the Board of Directors of Innosuisse. Its primary function is to review, analyse and make decisions on funding requests. It also plays a key role in the development of Innosuisse’s promotion strategy.

Who is Elena Cortona?

Elena Cortona is CTO and member of the Executive Committee of Belimo Automation. Before joining Belimo, Elena worked at Schindler Aufzüge AG, where she rose through the ranks, including the position of Digital Transformation Manager. Elena Cortona studied engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin and holds a PhD in mechanical engineering from the Institute of Energy Technology (IET).

Who is Nicolas Demartines?

Nicolas Demartines is a professor of surgery and Chairman of the department of surgery at the CHUV in Lausanne. His clinical and surgical work focuses on oncological surgery. Nicolas Demartines specialises in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programmes and his department is recognised as one of the world leaders in this field. Nicolas Demartines focuses on post-graduate teaching and is a visiting professor and faculty member at various universities. He is also an expert of the French National Cancer Institute (INCa) and a member of the editorial board of five specialised journals.
