At the beginning of November, Innosuisse and the Swiss National Science Foundation signed two declarations of intent with their Brazilian partner agencies to step up cooperation on research and innovation.
This agreement means that Innosuisse and EMBRAPII, the Brazilian innovation agency, can support joint research and development projects by providing funding instruments to universities and companies in both countries.
This is the second agreement that Innosuisse has signed with a foreign partner (after South Korea). Annalise Eggimann, CEO of Innosuisse, explained that intensifying collaboration with innovation agencies in partner countries is one of Innosuisse’s strategic goals. The agreement signed with EMBRAPII reflects the desire to step up collaboration on innovation between Switzerland and Brazil, one of the world’s most important economies.
“Cooperation with EMBRAPII should lend fresh impetus to existing momentum and provide Swiss companies with new opportunities,” added Andreas Gut, Head of the International Programme at Innosuisse. The next steps have already been set out. In early 2020, Innosuisse and EMBRAPII will publish an invitation to submit cooperation projects between Swiss and Brazilian partners in the field of innovation. The best projects will then receive funding from Innosuisse and EMBRAPII.
